Poivre,
Seychelles
Set
off the East coast of Africa, four degrees below the equator,
Seychelles is a tiny country made up of 115 beautiful islands
set upon an azure backdrop of flat, calm sea. Inhabited for
centuries by charming French and English speaking Creole people,
it has stable governance, strong foreign investment, pro-active
environmental laws, and a well-developed tourism industry.
Amongst these many islands is Poivre Island. Translating to
Pepper Island in English, its very name conjures promise of
exceptional experiences of the senses for heart, body and
soul. Forty minutes by boat or fifteen minutes by helicopter
from neighbouring Desroches Island, Poivre is accessible yet
boasts natural security, privacy and exclusivity. The island's
breath taking land and marine environment provides the unique
prospect to build while co-existing in harmony with the natural
habitats. The eco-sensitive development planned for early
2004, creates a self-sustaining tropical hide-away.
Consisting
of North and South Island landforms, Poivre is exceptional
- being one of the few coral atolls of the world. Thickly
covered with coconut palms and indigenous vegetation Poivre
is inhabited by many bird species. White island beaches provide
safe nesting for the endangered Hawksbill turtle and the atoll
waters and reef swarm with hundreds of varieties of iridescent
fish. The larger, northern island supports the major beach
front developments of The Poivre Estate and Poivre Hotel Canopied
Villa Complex. The smaller south island has one unique Presidential
Canopied Villa. All development has been researched by a select
specialist team creating homes of superb structure in both
design and interface to environment.
The
Poivre Estate epitomises the traditional. Comprising twenty
homes of exquisite Seychelles architecture, each of these
founder villas is an airy living space set around a private
central pool. Each villa is secluded by natural vegetation
from the next, facing North to vistas of endless sea and sky.
The Poivre Hotel Canopied Villas Complex incorporates the
extraordinary with an imagery of hand crafted wooden sailing
yachts and stainless steel rigging, touching island surface
with minimal intrusion. Twenty single and family residencies
are west and southerly facing with private tidal pools. Opposite,
across the causeway, lies the mirrored double Presidential
Villa - one home on one island for one special resident. All
islanders have access to the hotel's five star restaurant,
business facilities, medical center, health spa and hotel
lap pool. Activities include deep-sea cruisers, marlin game
fishing, helicopter, shallow water fly-fishing, reef and island
seafaris. Highly trained staff is available for every task
from housekeeping to private chef, from deep sea diving to
masseuse. The hotel provides a deepwater yacht harbour for
your own and visiting super yachts. Supported by infrastructures
of roads, walkways, sewerage, power, water and communications
the development is nothing short of superb.
